What I Want Thursday

The weather in SF right now is downright chilly, which means my obsession with everything related to Fall has officially begun. I can’t help myself – I keep reaching for booties, leather and chunky scarves to get me through these mid-50’s and 60’s blues. Here are a few pieces that I definitely want to add to my wardrobe this fall… They’re all just too good!

Summer Style, 3 Ways

Before I get in to today’s post, I want to formally apologize for the past few months – while I have continued to post through it all, my mind has definitely been on other things for a while which has sometimes resulted in sub-par posts (something I never want!). The end of junior year + the stressful transition from the US to London + crazy adventures in London + jumping right back into the working world in SF equals one very distracted Emily, but those days are officially over. I’m finally back in the groove of things in SF – my jetlag from London is gone, my job is amazing (more to come on that later!) and I actually have time to create some amazing content for you guys. Dear Serendipity is back, and in full force!

Today, I want to present my three must-have summer outfits – one to run errands and grab lunch with the girls, one for us working girls and one for romantic date night with your love. Even though SF is about 65 and foggy right now I’m dreaming of warmer, sunnier days where I can actually rock each of these looks – enjoy lovies!

Outfit 1 – Errands

Dolce Vita sandals // Vince tank // Juicy iPhone case // ASOS watch // Joie shorts // Madewell sunnies // Farmer’s Market tote

I love everything about this look and if I could wear one outfit every day, this would be it. I love comfy fabrics, so this cotton tank and silky shorts just screamed my name. I’m also really big into farmers market totes lately because when running errands, you want a bag that fits everything (including impromptu purchases…).

Outfit #2 – Work

Screen Shot 2013-07-10 at 6.18.43 PMEquipment sweater // BaubleBar necklace // Michael Kors bag // Cole Haan flats // J.Crew pencil skirt

Since offices can definitely run on the chilly side, I always opt for layering – pair this Equipment sweater over a tank or a tee and you’re good to go! I love pairing brights with stripes too – it’s so fresh and preppy.

Outfit #3 – Date Night

Screen Shot 2013-07-10 at 6.27.45 PMBy Malene maxi // BaubleBar statement necklace // BaubleBar monogram necklace // Ann Taylor clutch // Elizabeth and James wedges

On date night I love wearing sky-high heels, a body-hugging dress (tip: if it hugs you in all the right places, choose a maxi instead of a uber-short mini) and fun accessories. Pairing dainty + chunky necklaces is my new favorite layering technique!

Military Chic

I’m really not one for dresses, however I love pairing a great t-shirt dress with a military jacket – it’s a great way to keep dresses from feeling too girly. I think I’m finally understanding how easy and breezy dresses can be, especially for summer, and how they don’t always have to be overly feminine. I paired this Jason Wu dress with my trusty military jacket, and I’m absolutely loving how comfortable yet put together this look is! I’ve been wearing this to run errands, to finals, and think I might wear it on the plane to London because it’s so casual yet chic.

TheCover

I’m home in San Francisco and I stepped out today ready to shop, eat fabulous food and spend time with my family. Part of my excitement in coming home, however, was to see get my hands on this new iPad case that was waiting for me – I can’t get enough of it! I was recently introduced to TheCover, a line of iPad covers from design house Graphique de France. What I love so much about TheCover is that it lets you accessorize your tech devices, marrying fun & stylish design with great functionality. TheCover has been featured in Better Homes and Gardens and was even included in the SAG Awards Gala Gift Bag – and I officially have one as well. I have an iPad mini but I took TheCover for a spin on my mom’s iPad – check it out!

Beyond just accessorizing my TheCover, I also wanted to show you just how great these covers really are and show off some of the cool features behind the fashion. My favorite things about this are that it feels like a book, which makes it super easy to just throw in your bag and go. I also love the stand function so that I can prop it up and type! Fabulous.

Black on Black (on Blue & Gold)

I typically never dress in all black or even all dark colors, but with the dreary weather lately (we’re definitely in a February slump here in Washington) it just felt right to wear the darkest colors I could find today. I hate wearing all black because I feel like I’m in mourning, so I threw in some navy blue (I absolutely adore navy and black together) and some gold accessories to keep things current. P.S. How stunning is this Daniel Wellington watch? I just received it and I couldn’t be more obsessed – keep on reading for a discount code!

Holiday Party

Merry Christmas Eve! While I’m spending tonight with family, I know that for some people the holiday season means countless parties, dinners and events to attend. Sometimes it can be tough to find that perfect holiday outfit that works for all different occasions. This season I’m really loving dresses that speaks for themselves, and paired with neutral accessories, you can’t go wrong. I can’t get enough of this Batik dress, Dolce Vita heels and Target bracelet combo – the spikes on the back of those heels are major! I would wear this with a dark red nail and wavy curls. Take a look.
