Fall Staples

There are certain pieces that I think every girl has to have in her fall wardrobe regardless of where you live. My list includes a comfortable (yet chic) sweater, a beanie, the perfect riding boots, sassy booties, versatile pants, a classic trench, a chic blazer, a comfy tee and the perfect tote. I put together an extensive list of my fall favorites below (I spent many nights online shopping compiling this list… I know, my life is tough) – I hope you guys have fun shopping for my favorite season! I made sure to include both high and low price points so that there is truly something for everyone.

In my wardrobe at least, white, grey, tan and army green are classic neutrals in the fall months. I love solids but I also love adding a simple stripe or a sweet embellishment.

Beanies are a tricky thing to master – you have to find the perfect one for your head that lays just right. Some people just aren’t beanie people, which is why I included a head wrap too – I love them because if you make sure to cover your ears, they keep you nice and toasty!

I truly couldn’t live without riding boots in the fall or winter months – I wear them almost every day and they instantly spiff up an outfit. It’s such a classic accessory that requires little to no thought!

Booties are the best to turn a day-time outfit into a date-night one – you can throw on booties and automatically have the perfect going out outfit!

I typically stick to dark denim and black, but this fall I’m so tempted by all of the lighter hues that are popping up everywhere. I love metallic grey, light denim, tan and army green – plus you can never go wrong with a comfy pair of slouchy pants paired with some booties!

Screen Shot 2013-08-29 at 2.59.45 PMBurberry // Coach // Michael Kors // Steven Alan

A classic trench is something no girl should go without. While I absolutely swoon over the Burberry classic, I also love the idea of a slouchy, oversized trench that resembles menswear. Tan, black and red are all great options!

Blazers add that polished element that some outfits just need – I throw them on over almost anything to make an outfit extra special. I love blues and blacks, especially when paired together!

Screen Shot 2013-08-29 at 3.14.18 PMJ.Crew // Rag & Bone // Proenza Schouler // Markus Lupfer // Burberry // Rag & Bone // Calypso // Madewell

I’m not going to lie, I love a classic tee. I feel most comfortable in a tee, leather pants, booties and a cool jacket. Stick to neutral or graphic tees because they go with everything and can be dressed up or down.

Screen Shot 2013-08-29 at 3.18.34 PMMichael Kors // Tory Burch // SLP // Fendi // Givenchy // Miu Miu

When it comes to bags, I’m known to be excessive. I just can’t help myself – if you’re going to splurge, it should be on a timeless bag (but that Michael Kors looks expensive at a great price)!

I hope you love all of my fall picks – I’m so excited for the cooler months! Happy shopping, and more importantly Happy Friday!

Summer Style, 3 Ways

Before I get in to today’s post, I want to formally apologize for the past few months – while I have continued to post through it all, my mind has definitely been on other things for a while which has sometimes resulted in sub-par posts (something I never want!). The end of junior year + the stressful transition from the US to London + crazy adventures in London + jumping right back into the working world in SF equals one very distracted Emily, but those days are officially over. I’m finally back in the groove of things in SF – my jetlag from London is gone, my job is amazing (more to come on that later!) and I actually have time to create some amazing content for you guys. Dear Serendipity is back, and in full force!

Today, I want to present my three must-have summer outfits – one to run errands and grab lunch with the girls, one for us working girls and one for romantic date night with your love. Even though SF is about 65 and foggy right now I’m dreaming of warmer, sunnier days where I can actually rock each of these looks – enjoy lovies!

Outfit 1 – Errands

Screen Shot 2013-07-10 at 3.53.19 PM

Dolce Vita sandals // Vince tank // Juicy iPhone case // ASOS watch // Joie shorts // Madewell sunnies // Farmer’s Market tote

I love everything about this look and if I could wear one outfit every day, this would be it. I love comfy fabrics, so this cotton tank and silky shorts just screamed my name. I’m also really big into farmers market totes lately because when running errands, you want a bag that fits everything (including impromptu purchases…).

Outfit #2 – Work

Screen Shot 2013-07-10 at 6.18.43 PMEquipment sweater // BaubleBar necklace // Michael Kors bag // Cole Haan flats // J.Crew pencil skirt

Since offices can definitely run on the chilly side, I always opt for layering – pair this Equipment sweater over a tank or a tee and you’re good to go! I love pairing brights with stripes too – it’s so fresh and preppy.

Outfit #3 – Date Night

Screen Shot 2013-07-10 at 6.27.45 PMBy Malene maxi // BaubleBar statement necklace // BaubleBar monogram necklace // Ann Taylor clutch // Elizabeth and James wedges

On date night I love wearing sky-high heels, a body-hugging dress (tip: if it hugs you in all the right places, choose a maxi instead of a uber-short mini) and fun accessories. Pairing dainty + chunky necklaces is my new favorite layering technique!

21 for 21

I turn 21 in just under a month (April 17) and everyone keeps asking me what I want for the big day. I really don’t think about birthday presents that much (I kind of just love that they’re there) but this year I’ve put a little more thought into pieces that I want. I’ve rounded up items that are sitting in my shopping carts all over the Internet and brought you 21 pieces that I’m absolutely craving – for my birthday or for any day.

Spring Soles | Heels Edition

The shoe trends for this Spring have been completely out of control, so I wanted to dedicate an entire series to all of the different Soles of Spring, starting with my favorite Spring shoe: The Heel. For heels we’re seeing a lot of strappy sandals, mismatching patterns, cutouts and scalloped edges – and I’m swooning over all of it! Check out some of my favorite heels for this season.

Which pair will you be strutting this springtime? I think I’m definitely in need of the Barneys (#3) pair and the Rachel Roy ones (#6). To die for! XO

Holiday Splurges

While most of the year I’m good about buying fairly reasonably priced items, sometimes I just can’t help myself and I have to indulge a little bit into my “fashion lusts” list a cross a few big ticket items off. If you’re splurging on the right things, you don’t have to feel bad about it. Here are some of the most expensive pieces that have caught my eye this holiday season – that Chloé bag? Are you kidding? Obsessed.

Fall Trends

There are a few pieces that will always be representative of fall solely because of the weather change – chunky sweaters, tall boots, and darker hues – but my favorite part about autumn rolling around is seeing just how designers have channeled those constants into trending pieces for the now. My favorites this season: angular jackets, heeled booties, leather everything and structure.

Which trend are you most excited to rock this season?
