The Best of NYFW

I was waiting to say anything about New York Fashion Week until it was over because I didn’t want to jinx how great every look that came down the runway was, but now that it’s over I can officially say it – I think this was my favorite Fashion Week ever. Every trend for Spring – the black sticking around even after the cold is over, mixing girly pastels with edgy details and the insane prints – surpassed my expectations. Check out a few (okay, so maybe more than just a few) of my favorite looks below – now I’m just waiting for London Fashion Week to finish up so I can recap that too! xo

This BCBG number has me swooning – maxis + black + pastels? Count me in.

I love this Rebecca Minkoff look, and similarly I love the idea of wearing matchy-matchy items. So in for spring!

This Nicole Miller look has me praising the fashion gods that black & white is here to stay… In a big way.

I just… I can’t. This Jill Stuart number makes my heart race – I love everything about it. Black and white, crop tops and matching separates are definitely all Spring 2014 trends!

This Mara Hoffman dress is basically the reason I fell in love with fashion. The print + the cutouts are just too amazing.

This Monique Lhuillier number is probably the best thing I saw all of fashion week. I’m dying over cropped tops and maxi skirts for days.

The DVF show was just too cool… It had such a 60’s and 70’s vibe – this jumpsuit is certainly no exception.

I have a thing for Tory Burch prints – she just kills it every time. They’re so unique and it’s obvious they’re so inspired by her travels – this green look must end up in my closet.

I always want everything from J.Crew, but these 2 are just too good.

I actually had a dream about this look from the Sass & Bide show… No jokes.

I’m too obsessed with Rachel Zoe both on and off the runway, so I couldn’t pick just one favorite look. This white number is so glamorous it hurts.

This is another Rachel Zoe fave – I don’t know how she does it, but every single piece she sends down the runway I want.

Fall Staples

There are certain pieces that I think every girl has to have in her fall wardrobe regardless of where you live. My list includes a comfortable (yet chic) sweater, a beanie, the perfect riding boots, sassy booties, versatile pants, a classic trench, a chic blazer, a comfy tee and the perfect tote. I put together an extensive list of my fall favorites below (I spent many nights online shopping compiling this list… I know, my life is tough) – I hope you guys have fun shopping for my favorite season! I made sure to include both high and low price points so that there is truly something for everyone.

In my wardrobe at least, white, grey, tan and army green are classic neutrals in the fall months. I love solids but I also love adding a simple stripe or a sweet embellishment.

Beanies are a tricky thing to master – you have to find the perfect one for your head that lays just right. Some people just aren’t beanie people, which is why I included a head wrap too – I love them because if you make sure to cover your ears, they keep you nice and toasty!

I truly couldn’t live without riding boots in the fall or winter months – I wear them almost every day and they instantly spiff up an outfit. It’s such a classic accessory that requires little to no thought!

Booties are the best to turn a day-time outfit into a date-night one – you can throw on booties and automatically have the perfect going out outfit!

I typically stick to dark denim and black, but this fall I’m so tempted by all of the lighter hues that are popping up everywhere. I love metallic grey, light denim, tan and army green – plus you can never go wrong with a comfy pair of slouchy pants paired with some booties!

A classic trench is something no girl should go without. While I absolutely swoon over the Burberry classic, I also love the idea of a slouchy, oversized trench that resembles menswear. Tan, black and red are all great options!

Blazers add that polished element that some outfits just need – I throw them on over almost anything to make an outfit extra special. I love blues and blacks, especially when paired together!

I’m not going to lie, I love a classic tee. I feel most comfortable in a tee, leather pants, booties and a cool jacket. Stick to neutral or graphic tees because they go with everything and can be dressed up or down.

When it comes to bags, I’m known to be excessive. I just can’t help myself – if you’re going to splurge, it should be on a timeless bag (but that Michael Kors looks expensive at a great price)!

What to Wear | His Birthday

I always love series showcasing different outfits to wear at different occasions – I think it’s so fun to create different outfits depending on where you’re going. I’ve recently started thinking about what I’m going to wear to my boyfriend’s birthday dinner (in just under 3 weeks we’ll be reunited for it!) and I thought I’d put together my guide on dressing for special occasions, starting with this one.

I love the idea of wearing a flirty dress to special dinners, especially for your man’s birthday. I chose this white dress so that I could pair it with some killer accessories – nothing screams summer like a white dress + bold brights!

Shades of Summer

I’m really not too into bright colors, and I’m really not into mixing tons of brights and patterns. However, when I saw how well this Joie open-shoulder top went with my new Kate Spade crossbody + patterned Forever 21 shorts, I couldn’t resist. I hope this summer weather lasts forever because I’m loving dressing like I’m going to the beach every day!

Springtime Dreaming

In normal parts of the country (but certainly not where I’m at) Spring is just around the corner, and as I’m pulling on my boots and parka to head out into the snow, I’ve found myself dreaming of warmer climates, brighter colors and feminine fabrics and cuts. NYFW Recap | The Best of Fall 2013

Like many fashion bloggers who didn’t get to attend Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York last week, I watched all of the runway videos online in class and stayed up way too late stalking photos of my favorite designer’s shows. There were a few looks that came walking down that runway that I just couldn’t resist sharing – this was an exceptional year for NYFW!

The fur at BCBGMAXAZRIA was out of this world, and so was the leather. This was one of my favorite furs.

I’m obsessing over this dress from the Charlotte Ronson preview… So perfect for fall! The cut is to die for.

Per usual, I was obsessed with every single look that came down the DVF runway, but this jumpsuit in particular caught my eye. I need this in my closet!

I can’t explain how excited I am that leather and geometric shapes are here to stay – the DKNY show was all about harsh lines and heavy leather. This look just screams wear me!

Again with the fur… J. Mendel just shut this look down. I can’t explain how much I need every single one of these pieces to magically appear on my body right now!

I’m actually not even joking, I had a dream about this Monique Lhuillier number after I saw this show. A-maze-ing.

I mean, come on. No one does anything better than Rachel Zoe.

Pouch Obsessed

This may sound odd, but I have a complete and total obsession with pouches. I love big purses, but I also love organization, so I’m a freak about keeping similar things in cute little pouches inside of my bag. It’s been a crazy few weeks for me, and between the holidays, work, traveling to San Diego to see family and flying to New York for some meetings, I’m pooped. I can’t wait to go to Seattle this week to spend almost a week at my boyfriend’s home just relaxing and getting some much needed sleep (and cuddle time) in.
